Edythe Avrick Karon

1924 - 2012

Resident of Santa Cruz

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on March 13, 2012. All of her children were with her as she began her next journey. She was predeceased by the one and only love of her life, Allan Karon, M.D.

Edythe lived a long, full life and was fortunate to have a large multi-generational loving family. At the age of 42 she enrolled in college, graduated with honors and earned a life time teaching credential. She always had a love of books and reading, and took on the task of cataloguing 1000's of books for the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center's library. For her sterling effort she was awarded "Woman of the Year" by the Jewish Federation.

Edythe is survived by her 3 children, Diana (Paul) Ginsburg, Stephen (Susan) Karon, Dr. Jeffrey (Nancy) Karon, 7 grandchildren and 5 1/2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday March 18, 2012 in Los Angeles. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Susie Wallman, Mina Abusaidi, the staffs at Dominican Oaks and Pacific Coast Manor for their compassion and care shown to Edythe.
